IMPORTANT NEW CHANGES FOR YOUR
CAREER
In
these trying times, quality career type jobs in the United
States are getting harder and harder to find. Those that are
available usually require some form of college education. The
staff of Railroad Training Services understands that college
is not always available for everyone. It seems that job
opportunities for young High School graduates are limited to
low paying jobs in the Food Service, Retail Sales or
Warehousing fields. That however, is simply not the case.
There are plenty of career opportunities in the Nation’s
thriving Railroad Industry. And, it is not just for the men!
The nation’s railroads are also looking for quality females
for their employment positions also. Whether you are a young
man, woman or an older individual looking for steady
employment in a new and exciting career, the railroads are
calling! All it takes is the desire to start a lifelong future
for yourself and your family.
WE ARE
HERE TO HELP
The Staff of Railroad Training
Services understands that times are tough for the younger
generation. With college tuition, gas prices, and the cost of
living climbing higher and higher each day, we have made the
decision to restructure our training curriculum and
consequently, our tuition price so that more young people can
take advantage of these great career opportunities. Even at
entry level wages, Railroad positions are some of the best
paying jobs out there. This isn’t “easy” work, nor is it
“shirt and tie” type work. Only a select few positions
involve office type work sitting behind a desk or a computer.
Railroading is a hands-on, “get your hands dirty” type of
work: honest work that you can be proud of at the end of the
day. And the Railroad Industry is looking for thousands of
young, ambitious, energetic people just like you to move the
nation’s freight trains and passenger trains safely and
efficiently each and every day over the railroads.
WHAT
POSITION IS BEST SUITED FOR YOU?
Not
everyone who works for the railroads gets to run the trains.
There are a multitude of jobs out there for everyone’s tastes.
There are mechanical personnel who repair, rebuild and
maintain the locomotives, railcars and support
infrastructure. There are Maintenance of Way employees who
maintain the network of tracks, bridges and buildings. There
are clerks who handle waybills, repair billing, and car
routing. Electricians prosper on the railroad as locomotive
technicians, signal maintainers and passenger car mechanics.
Are you into construction? The railroad is always looking for
carpenters, fabricators and welders who are comfortable
swinging a hammer or wielding a torch or an arc welder. Do
you like to travel? If so, then perhaps a train service
position is for you. If you don’t mind being on call and
traveling for 12 hour periods and are reliable and safety
minded, you too can be a Conductor and eventually be promoted
to a Locomotive Engineer, sitting behind the controls of a
10,000 ton freight train or a sleek, fast passenger train.
Are you working in the food service industry? The nations
passenger and commuter railroads are always looking for lounge
car attendants, cooks, waiters and car attendants, doing the
same type of work, but compensated much better than the local
restaurant or drive-thru. Are you good with computers and
networking? The railroad is always looking for sharp
individuals to keep the modern railroad rolling through the
latest technology in use on the railroad today. There are
virtually endless possibilities for everyone, regardless of
your skills or career ambitions. Regardless of your past work
history, there are positions available to fit your skill
level. All it takes is the desire to start a new career with a
long term future and excellent benefits.
HIGHER
WAGES PLUS A GREAT BENEFIT PACKAGE!
Did you know that the average
yearly benefit package for railroad employees is well over
$28,000 a year, on top of their salaries? The health and
welfare benefits afforded to you and your family is provided
by the railroad as part of this package. Also, railroad
employees do not pay into the Social Security program.
Instead, they pay into the Railroad Retirement Fund. At the
end of Fiscal Year 2005, the average Railroad
Retirement Benefit was 96.8% HIGHER than those paid out by
Social Security for the same amount of time and wages. 96.8
PERCENT HIGHER! That is a very nice benefit! Also under
Railroad Retirement after ten years of marriage, your spouse
is entitled to benefits paid to them as well, equaling an
additional 46% on top of your
retirement check. Our nation’s Social Security
system is in serious financial jeopardy. The Railroad
Retirement program is a totally independent alternative
provided to the nation’s railroad community and is not part of
the Social Security program.
